Family Arrested Faces Drug Charges in Texas
According to news reports, an entire family faces drug charges. It started when a neighbor claimed odd things were happening next door and that there were too many people coming and going. Now, an 18-year-old, 22-year-old, and two parents are facing charges of drug possession and the possession of an illegal weapon, according to police. Reports state that the 18-year-old son's girlfriend was also arrested at the scene.
According to police, they recovered cocaine, morphine, Xanax, and marijuana at the home. They also reported finding illegal weapons, one of which was a sawed-off shotgun. The neighbors had allegedly been complaining because there had been a lot of traffic coming to and from the home; they reported that this had gone on for months. They even claimed that a skateboarder would stop by the house to drop off a bag, then pick up one on his way back.
Even though police may have the right idea and had a search warrant, the family's lawyer disagrees with the raid. He reported that the traffic at the home was due to an e-cigarette business that was run by the mother and her daughter. Additionally, the weapons in the home allegedly belonged to a deceased son who was in the U.S. Marines. It wasn't discussed in the news whether the family had prescriptions for some of the drugs found at the home, because some are available via prescription for pain or anxiety.
