Texas Man Asks For Naked Kid Pics On Craigslist
We don't know if the allegations of this Texas man's actions on Craigslist really qualifies as a "scheme," as Kevin Morris puts it in his piece for the Daily Dot, but the allegations would certainly make a prosecutor sit up and take notice. Morris writes, "Criminals love Craigslist," and whether or not that's true, it's certainly true that Internet sex crimes make headlines and prosecutors seek stiff punishments.
Morris reports that the 22-year-old Houston man started out by selling a tire cover on Craigslist, but then moved toward asking questions about the buyer's family. "Do you have any children?" he asked. The buyer said yes, and then the questions started to involve whether the buyer's two daughters were interested in modeling.
Ultimately, the would-be buyer of a tire cover discovered that the Houston man wanted to buy pictures - $5 for a picture of his daughters fully-clothed, $10 for his daughters in the nude. The buyer got in touch with the FBI and before you knew it, the FBI's knocking on the Houston man's door with a search warrant. What they found inside was a "vast collection" of child porn.
In Texas, as in many other states, sex charges are some of the most severe charges you can face. Morris's report didn't say what happened to the man, but it's probably safe to assume that he's headed for the courtroom.
