Charter Bus Accident Near Dallas-Fort Worth Int'l Airport
The Associated Press reports that six people were sent to local hospitals in Texas after a charter bus turned over near the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport today.
Is this the start of another string of major accidents involving charter buses? The reality is that bus accidents happen all the time, many of them relatively minor, but occasionally the big ones happen and injure or kill a lot of people.
And the problem with that is that bus accidents, like many other types of auto accidents, are preventable. Many charter outfits seem to push their drivers, whether intentionally or not, whether because of business exigencies or not, to log too many hours behind the wheel.
It's too early in this story to know how or why the charter bus turned over.
Emergency responders are currently at the scene, along with helicopters, and the AP reports that crews are pulling bus passengers from the roof.
