Child Killed in Car Crash in Plano, Texas
If you've been watching local news reports, you may have heard about the two-car accident that left a little girl dead. She passed away around 3:45 p.m. on Jan. 11 when a pickup truck swerved to avoid another vehicle and entered the highway's HOV lane. The pickup truck struck a Chevrolet sedan with the child inside.
After the impact, a series of horrible events unfolded. According to reports, the sedan hit a light pole and came to rest upside down after traveling a length along the highway's concrete barrier. Four of the people inside had to be taken to a hospital for treatment, and three had only minor injuries, according to reports. However, the 4-year-old victim was killed and pronounced dead.
The story wasn't the same for those in the other vehicle, as they were more fortunate. In the pickup, five people were inside, and none were injured. The Plano Police Department has reported that the crash is still under investigation, but it appears that alcohol wasn't a factor and that all individuals involved in the accident were wearing safety belts.
Accidents like these can be avoided. Paying attention to the road and avoiding distractions is important for any driver, and in cases like these, it can be the difference between an easy stop and a serious accident. If you've been in a serious car accident and lost a loved one due to their injuries, you may still be able to recoup costs associated with their medical treatments or funeral costs. Although it won't bring your family member back, the money could help you start over and be financially stable through a troubling time.
