Dallas driver crashes into a crowded Dallas nail salon
Two Dallas beauty salons and their clients received a terrifying surprise last week when a SUV crashed into one of the businesses and crashed through a wall into the second. It is not yet clear why, but the driver apparently pushed the gas pedal while trying to brake.
The car crash injured one person-surprisingly, none of the other patrons or employees were hurt.
After the BMW X5 SUV slammed through a plate-glass store-front into a crowded nail salon, it struck one of the pedicure chairs. The SUV crashed through the salon, taking the pedicure chair with it. It kept moving all the way to the back of the salon and smashed through the wall into an adjoining hair studio. The pedicure chair ended up in the middle of a pile of wreckage inside the hair salon.
Amazingly, the chair's occupant did not suffer any serious injuries. Responders took her to a local hospital with cuts, bruises, and some degree of mental trauma. Fifteen other people were present between the two businesses and none of them were hurt or killed.
Authorities haven't said what caused the crash but they did say they believe the driver hit the gas instead of the brake pedal. This mistake could have been due to a phone-related distraction or some kind of impairment. Whatever the cause, everyone involved is probably fortunate that the crash was not much worse.
