Fatal head-on car crash in Texas
A teenage couple was killed on Wednesday in a car wreck near Huntsville when their car went into the lane of oncoming traffic and collided with a big rig. Prayer services were held today in the high school that the 18-year-old man had attended. His girlfriend, who was 17, was going to graduate from the same high school in 2013, as Marianne Brown reports for the Dallas Morning News.
Bishop Lynch High School president Edward Leyden said, "Dan's vibrant sense of humor and camaraderie with his basketball teammates, and Ally's wit and service to others will always be cherished by those who had the pleasure of sharing in their time at Bishop Lynch."
During the prayer service, Leyden promised "long-lasting" support - support that would outlast the sadness that the students felt - on the part of the Bishop Lynch community.
The couple died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the big rig (who does not appear to share fault for the collision), was taken to the hospital in "good condition," as often is the case when cars hit big rigs.
